Does It Really Need It Every Two Weeks?

May 2, 2014

One of the questions we get asked the most is How frequently should I mow my lawn?

In south Georgia, in a typical summer, every two weeks is just about right. And that's not just our opinion, there's science behind it. Check out what the good folks at the Center for Turfgrass Science at Penn State have to say about it on their "Diagnosing Turfgrass Problems" page.

Infrequent mowing, combined with scalping (grass height less than 1½"), can cause severe and lasting damage to turfgrass. So can a host of other things, including the wrong amount or kind of herbicide or fertilizer. It's more than most people want to keep up with, and we understand that. That's why we do what we do.

We'll be blogging every once in a while (usually when it's raining), to share news and advice that matters to our friends and customers in Statesboro and Bulloch County. If you have any questions, email us or give us a call.
